About Me

When I was a kid I would introduce myself as a very shy person. I didn't like to talk and would hide behind my gregarious sister who would talk for me. Later, I would introduce myself like this, "My name is Elizabeth Forbes, I am the oldest of six kids, and I am a homeschool graduate."

These things are still true of me but are no longer the things I emphasize. Now, I am a college senior who will be graduating Idaho State University in the spring with my bachelor's in graphic design. These statements are all true, but they show different views of myself from my life at different times.

Just like how my introduction changed over time, my reasons for doing things will also change. I will not know the full extent of what it will do for me until I am there. I might make lots of friends, or get connected with people who I can help, or people who can help me. Opportunities come as life goes and I will not know them until I am there. That is what life is. People decide to do things for whatever reason but decide to stay because of the value that it brings to their lives.

Ultimately I decide to do things scared. That is the reason why I chose to do most things. In the fear of doing something and doing it anyway, you grow a lot. I did not think I could talk to strangers until I did. It led to greater learning as to who I am and what I like. Trying things despite the belief you will fail leads to happy surprises and learning. So wherever life takes me I will have learned something through the experience. Because I did it scared.
